So there are two methods, two fingers. By just doing practice in bhakti yoga, all sadhana, heart to heart, Krsna will not come. If Krsna’s mercy is there but you are not doing anything, then you cannot receive the mercy, so both things have to be there. Our strong endeavor and Krsna’s mercy, if both are there, then we can see Krsna. If Krsna’s mercy is always there, but we are not doing proper sadhana and bhajan, then we can understand that that is why we are not getting any success. We should try to weep for Krsna’s mercy, for Guru’s mercy and for the mercy of the uttama adhikari.
Caitanya Mahaprabhu has come to give only this thing, the gopis’ prema. He came and gave so many things, all rasas, but especially He came only for this. So if by hearing all these things a devotee will develop a greed for the highest topic of prema like the gopis, then he will come in the line of Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Otherwise if he only wants to be in dasya then he will have to go in Ramanuja sampradaya, or to Madhva or Visnu Swami or Nimbaditya. They will not come in the line of Caitanya Mahaprabhu. So for this reason He came and gave nama prema [verse 10.00] Caitanya Mahaprabhu gave nama, plus this prema, only this prema. When He was going through the forest from Jagannatha Puri to Vrindavan, all the animals were crying and weeping and chanting Krsna and they received prema. What type of prema?
One day little boy Krsna, quite naked, was playing in Brahmanda ghata. Those that have been in Vraja know Brahmanda ghata, a very famous ghata in Gokul on the river Yamuna. Krsna was playing with so many boys, Dama, Sridama, Sudama, Vasudama, Stoka Krsna, Lavanga, Arjuna, so many, hundreds and thousands, all naked (Gurudeva laughs), some were two days younger, some fifteen days younger, some one month, and some were four days older and some fifteen days older, like Baladeva Prabhu who is fifteen days older. All were naked, playing here and there, in the sands of Yamuna, playing and wrestling, playing hide and seek. At last all the boys came into one group with Baladeva Prabhu. Krsna was alone and all the boys were clapping and laughing, joking with Krsna. They were saying…
We see that so many demons are coming in Vraja, in the pastimes of Krsna. We see that there are so many devotees doing lakhs and lakhs of years of austerities and sadhana bhajan but still they are not going there. How are these demons entering into Vrindavan, and touching Krsna, like Putana and Aghasura who took Krsna in his mouth and stomach, or Bakasura, Canura and Mustika who wrestled with Krsna, touching His body; and all the other demons, how did they enter into Vrindavan? How to reconcile all these things? To make the service and increase the love and affection of the Vrajavasis, to renew their love again and again, Yogamaya brings the demons. They cannot come on their own wish…
His wife climbed up on that rope and began to dance with so many vessels on her head, holding a bamboo stick in her hands and dancing, coming and going, like this and that. The king and his wife became so happy. Very good magic. When she came down, the queen herself took her very valuable necklace and gave it to that lady. The two young boys were standing there and said, “Mother give me that.” Both were quarreling and forcibly trying to take it. The mother took it off and was in the middle keeping it and they were quarreling to take it, but both the sons were equally powerful and strong, so they were pulling each other. In the meantime, one boy took his sword from his case, and the other did also, and at the same time, one took the head of his brother, and the other took the other’s. Both fell down; their heads were both cut off. The mother came weeping, “Oh my two sons, I have lost!” She took at once the sword and immediately cut off her neck. Then the father came and said, “Oh my two children and wife have been killed! How can I live?” Then he took one sword and cut off his head…
Understand? Don’t disturb anyone. Let that remain. You should try to listen. Two rats came and began to cut the branches from which he was hanging. In a minute or two the branches would be cut, and he would fall down. Inside is death. Outside of the well is death. In the meantime, he saw that a branch was coming towards his mouth. On that branch, so many bees were there collecting honey in a beehive. From that, a drop of honey, slowly dropped—one, two…. They were golden drops, very sweet drops were coming…one, two…. He saw this and could not check himself. He took his tongue and tasted one drop and exclaimed, “How sweet! How sweet!” But the rats were coming. In a moment he will go and die. Outside is death. Inside is death. If you shake the branch where the bees are making their rooms, they will come and attack. At once lakhs and lakhs of bees will come out and, in a minute or two you will die. So, in four ways, on every side of you… and all ten directions, death is waiting for you. But this taste is coming, “How sweet!” And then he is forgetting everything. What is this?
You are not the cook, but Srimati Radhika is the cook. So it is like a temple. You should try to make it so pure always. Also try to honor all the devotees who have taken name from anyone. They are chanting harinama and therefore should be honored. If they are svajatiya, means likeminded, they should be honored more and even more if someone has taken diksa in the real sense. Not like that Gurudeva has given one thread and told only one time the mantras and now we have forgotten everything, but we are thinking that we are initiated. That is not in the real sense…
