I was selected in the police force and given a high rank. There, also, all the high-ranking police officers were very pleased with my good character—not taking a single paisa as a bribe. India is infamous for bribery, but I was always so honest that all used to have love for me and they wanted to promote me higher and higher; but I met my Gurujī and I accepted the renounced order.
Then I saw that in this world we cannot be happy without transcendental life. In this world there is beauty but only for a moment. There is love and affection but with self-interest. No one can love purely. All want their self-interest.
What is the meaning of yoga? If there are two or more things and if we make them together this means yoga. Like one plus one is equal to two. This is yoga. But when a soul is connected with God it is pure yoga. This is called bhakti-yoga. If we want to connect two bricks we will have to bring something so that will connect it, like mud. So, if we are going to connect this soul with God there should be something to add, to adhere. What is that? Love and affection. In this world everything is tightened by love and affection. But, there, love and affection is so pure that this soul can be connected forever, eternally, and transcendentally and this is called bhakti-yoga. We can be connected to the Supreme Personality of Godhead through love and affection. We have love and affection now but it is not transcendental.
