What is sanātana-dharma? The soul is eternal and is never subjected to birth and death. The love between two eternal entities is called sanātana-dharma. The other eternal being is Bhagavān who maintains the universe; He doesn’t take birth and He does not die. The soul, the jīvātmā, also does not take birth nor does he die. But we forget and think that the soul also takes birth and dies. So, the service tendency that the jīvas have towards Bhagavān is called sanātana-dharma. This sanātana-dharma is found in Hanumānjī, Bharatajī, Prahlāda Mahārājajī, Ambarīṣa Mahārājajī, and in especially the Vrajavāsīs. Among the Vrajavāsīs, the gopīs’ love is prominent.
