[Spoken by Srila Gurudeva on July 7th, 1997, in Holland, published as part of the Bhakta Bandhav Anthology, Volume 21]
Srila Gurudeva: Those who are killing all the animals, must be killed by them. Gradually this problem is increasing, soon it will be out of control and it will be the cause of our destruction. Now we are seeing that money is coming and so much wealth is coming by killing and giving them to all other countries. Money is coming, but a day may come when the entire country will be ruined by this. Then there will be no chance to reform it. They cannot live happily. Some wealth may be coming, but anyone is not happy who is taking all these things and slaughtering and doing like this. So many kinds of problems will come here and they will always be upset about that. By our previous works, what we have done, and what karma we have done, we may be poor. So many obstacles may be there. All may be doing wrong to us. This is due to past activities. But a devotee may chant and if a dog will bite him, he will think, “This is all my karma, so I must tolerate it. I should not beat that dog.” So the dog bit him and he went on. This devotee had nothing to do with that dog. He went to the hospital or any medical facility and he took some medicine and he became cured.
But if he would have beaten that dog with a danda when the dog bit him and the dog would have died, then this would be new karma for that devotee and he would have to taste it in the future life or in this life he may also have to taste something. All the cows which are being slaughtered, have done this in the past and are now going to be slaughtered.
They should know that any human being or animals, creepers, trees, those who have some sense, are part and parcels of Godhead. We should try to faith in Him and pray to Him, “We have done some wrong, please excuse me, forgive me. I will not do all these bad things.” They should give up their bad practices. There are so many inimical moods, envy for anyone, cheating others, and not helping all, so this should go away and they should simply have faith in God and they should fear God. They should know that the deity is essential for them. They will die one day or old age will come if they have not died yet, so they should fear this. They should have some faith in God and be happy. Every day in the morning or when they wake up they should say, “Oh God, we are Yours.” If they are admitting this fact, then in no time they will be happy forever. So they should remember and chant the holy name of God. This will not only help the country and all human beings, but the whole universe. It is good for everyone.
