Below is the translation of Chandra Mohan Prabhu - Pujari at Seva Kunj in Vrindavan, from when I interviewed him in 2017, speaking about Srila Gurudeva and how he was ordered by Srimati Radhika to bring Her prasada to Srila Gurudeva, in Kartik 2009.
Chandra Mohan Prabhu:
This place is known as Seva Kunja. Why? Because while performing the Rasa Dance, Srimati Radharani became tired, so Krishna Himself, who is the Guru of the world, ‘Krishnam Vande Jagat Guru’, here He served the lotus feet of Srimati Radharani. Here, He is serving Her lotus feet with His own hands. Here there is no worshiping of any deity, here in Seva Kunj, you will have darshan of a picture in which Krishna Himself is serving the lotus feet of Kishorijiu and because of this, the place is known to be as Seva Kunja - the place of service.
Kavi Rasakhan had Darshan here. This is also the Sadhana Sthali of Harivansa Mahaprabhuji.
Kavi Rasahkan wrote, “Bhraman me dhundhyo puranan ganan baid richa suni chauguney gayan, dekhyo sunyo kabuhun na kahun veh kaise swaroop o kaise subhayan, terat herat hari paryo raskhani batayo, na log lugayan dekhyo duro veh kunj kutir me baitho palotatu radhikha payan.”
Translation
“I have searched for the Supreme Brahman in the Puranic songs. From listening to the Vedic verses, my desire for him has increased fourfold. Still, nowhere have I seen or even heard of His real form and nature. Cries Rasakhan, “I am exhausted from calling and searching. No man or woman can even describe Him! Then I beheld him, Sri Krsna, sitting in a secret love-bower (kunj), massaging Sri Radha’s lotus feet.”
During the night no one stays here. If someone is left here during night time, by the morning they die, or some become mad, deaf, or lose their consciousness in a way that they are unable to tell what they saw. There have various cases here where people have died or gone mad—even the monkeys here leave this place at night.
At night, a flower bed for Priyaji Srimati Radharani and Krishna is prepared, on which ladoos, datun (toothpick), paan (betel), and garland are kept. In the morning when we come here, the ladoos are half-eaten, the datun are used, the betel is half-eaten and the flower bed is also disarranged. Darsana of all these things can be seen every day during mangala arati at five a.m., in the summer time, and during winter, it is at six a.m.
This incident with (Srila) Narayana Maharajji is about seven or eight years ago, I am not sure maybe, it had been seven or eight years roughly. After I put Thakuraji and Srimatiji to rest, I went back home. I am a servant of Sriji, I take bliss daily in their lila, devotees also do the same. So that night I was asleep, Sriji (Srimati Radhika) appeared and gave me an order that there is one of My sakhis, My manjari sakhis, Narayana Maharajji, who is in Sridham Vrindavan, go and give My prasada to him.
I woke up the next morning, did my daily routine of worship and dhyana. After doing raja-bhoga arati, I took the prasadam and went to the Gaudiya Math near Imli Tala, Gopinath Bhawan.
I didn't know where Maharajji was, he was maybe in his room, but one of his disciples met me at the gate, he was a sannyasi—I don't remember his name, I just told him that I want to give this prasadam to Narayan Maharajji, I didn't tell him about my dream, why should I? It should be told to those only to whom it concerns. The disciple asked me where I was from, I told him that I am from Seva Kunja and this is Sriji’s prasadam.
He then told me to give the prasadam to him and he'll give it to Maharaja. But I am also a Vrajavasi, a bit stubborn, I told him, “No this can’t happen, I have brought this prasadam for someone and I have received the order to give it to him only. If you'll allow me, then it’s fine, otherwise I will return to my home.”
Then the disciple took me to Maharajji, knowing the importance of the prasadam. I met Maharajji and we spoke and had some sat-sanga. I told him about my dream, and the truth of my coming. I told him, “This is the truth. If Kisoriji has ordered me, then I have to follow it.” He took it very happily, with a choked voice. He was very happy and told me many things about Seva Kunja. I also spoke things about Seva Kunj with him.
The disciple with Maharajji tried giving me some donations; I told him that I have not come here for donations, because the place where I sit, by the mercy of Thakurji, donations come anyway—we have no want. I came here following the orders of Kisoriji only. We then offered pranamas to each other and then I left.
This was the lila with a rasika Saint. Rasika saints don’t go from here, they always stay here, whatever seva He had to do, He did and then returned to the Kunja.
Maharajji was a different personality, it is not easy to reach him, it is very difficult.
There are so many of his wonderful disciples who chant harinama, and spread harinama, yet to reach his level is different. Only a rasika Vaisnava can understand a rasika Vaisnava. We talked for an hour or so, it was very blissful because he knew the Vrajavasis. He knew the nature of the Vrajavasis. Those Vrajavasis who never leave Krsna, and who speak with Him very intimately and casually, they are not easy to understand. This can be understood with rasika devotees. This is the truth.
Maharajji used to understand the Vrajavasis, who are they, what is Vrindavan, what is Seva Kunja in that Vrindavan. This lila happened with him, and it can only happen with rasika devotee and nobody else. Only rasika devotees can understand those who are rasika. They are like pure Desi Ghee, with no mixture. There are so many oils present in the market but there is nothing like Desi Ghee. Maharajji was like this, in that category of Desi Ghee, because he knew about the significance of the lilas of Seva Kunja.
Narayan Maharajji is still here! He continues to perform his lila here. You all are his disciples, you must have received something from him, that is why you can see such places all around. It must have happened to you also, that Maharajji has spoken with you, still, these days (in dreams or vision). What else do you want? There should be no other desire than this.
