Don't Cheat Others

Srila Gurudeva: If attachment and worldly things and everything is still there, then you are chanting and remembering but you are still in Santipura. Not in Santipura, but ‘Asantipura.’ You know Asantipura? Only this. Not progressing even one inch towards the goal. So, try to get rid of this anchor, whether you are renounced, brahmacari, or grhastha. You should be careful for this. If the anchor is not taken and you are chanting even one lakh name, [Srila Gurudeva chants very vigorously] Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare [devotees laugh]. Sweats are coming, everything. Even you are following Ekadasi without water, but your mind will go here and there because material attachment is there.

Then you cannot go forward an inch. So you should think like so. You should not use a saligrama to crack nuts. What is the meaning? A pujari was there, he entered the room to worship Thakurji but he saw that very beautiful and tasteful almonds were there. He was thinking, “How to take these?” He put them in his mouth but his teeth were not so strong to break the shells. Then he took one bigger saligrama and kept it anywhere and took another sila and he began to crack the nuts [devotees laugh.] Don’t do this. What is this? We are doing something like this. What is this? Anything taken in the name of Guru, Vaisnava and Bhagavan, if we are taking these things from anyone and using them for ourselves, this is like doing so. Don’t do all these things. You can starve, no harm. You can beg anything for yourself, no harm, but don’t cheat others like this. Taking anything for Krsna and Guru and Vaisnava and using it for yourself. Then you will go to hell. These are very little little things, but they are not little. These are the instructions of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami Thakura. We should try to remember these things always and go forward.
