Beware!

Hari-katha inspired by the Guru-varga. The conditioned souls of this material world cannot understand who a devotee is. They are deceived by many cheaters who fain affection and love. These cheaters show respect, friendship, and glorification, but it is all filled with duplicity. The love of cheaters is not true or permanent. We become powerless at the hands of cheaters such as these. We cannot control them. This is the result of our material attachment that we have developed over millions of lives. How can we free ourselves from this? How can we become renounced?

Sometimes we try to renounce but we find it so painful. The thought of removing ourselves from our attachments makes us feel like we would be losing so much. But remember that nothing in this world is permanent.

Some people, although Indian, stay in America or Russia for the purpose of business. They make money and then send it home to India. Similarly, our home is Goloka Vrndavan and whatever we are doing in this world is temporary. We collect something here which we can send to Goloka Vrndavan. What is that thing? Is it money? Youth? Health? No. None of this can go there. The only thing that can be sent there is bhakti-rasa. The supreme sweetness derived from serving Hari, Guru, and Vaisnavas with love, purity, and simplicity is the lasting substance that can be sent to our eternal home. If we are always impure and suffering then even if we call out to God, He will not hear. The fallen souls of this material world are trying to call God into their hell by their worship and prayers. All they have to offer God is their madness. This is not a real service to God. Real service to God can be carried out when we renounce all our material attachments. When we are free like this, then we become happy and full of love. Satisfied at heart, we can then glorify God and serve Him. This is where real puja begins. Even cats and dogs are eager to receive something given to them with love. Why would God not accept our love? The puja and chanting and bhoga offered by those people who are crying, lamenting, and suffering due to their attachment is rotten. Therefore, God does not accept that puja. He accepts the Vrajavasis' love. Why? Because they are never sad. They are never disturbed. They are not troubled by any kind of fire, such as anger, lust, or attachment. When we can be like this then our bhajana will start. Bhajana is impossible as long as we are involved with the painful, rotten, negative things of this world. If we are engrossed in negativity, how can we hope to carry out asta-kaliya-lila-smarana and divine service? Only negative ideas will come in our mind. We will remember, “Oh, he abused me. He insulted me. He does not like me. I have done so much for him, but he has no affection for me.” This is maya-lila.

If you want to do bhajana and God's service then you will have to become materially renounced. You must have no relation with anything mundane. Also, this must not be done by force, but by love.

Although you may be present anywhere, you should be continuously doing everything for Goloka Vrndavan. Then you have a balance there. You will be happy. If you receive just one drop of affection from someone of that realm, then you will be automatically trained and qualified. You will realize the futility of material life and you will receive good guidance. You will not think about this temporary residence of yours, but your permanent home. Thinking that you will collect the property, wealth, etc., and with that please Guru and Vaisnavas is only nonsense. It is impossible to please them like this. Therefore, from now on, never waste a moment. Do everything for God's happiness. Start investing in residential permission from God. Wherever you go, do not look to see what the criminals and cheaters are doing. Why be involved? Serve God. Think about God. Do kirtan and speak hari-katha for God's pleasure. If you do this, then everyone around you will be favorable and also benefited. An environment of bhakti will surround you. But if you cannot do any of this then they will be your enemies and will attack you. The Guru-varga teaches us this. They came to this world alone, but they changed everyone. Because they were fixed in bhakti themselves they could change others. Therefore, first develop those relationships that you have which are eternal. Always think about those eternal personalities who reside in the eternal realm, your real home. Let your mind become involved with them and service to them. Then wherever you go, people will support you. Then everyone around you will serve God and the Guru-varga.

Believing that you are great and intelligent is dangerous. This is poisonous. So long as you are wrongly situated, no matter how much you do, the result will all be negative. You can achieve pure positivity and happiness when you do everything for the Vrajavasis. Then wherever you go, you will carry the mood of Vraja.

Our line is different. Our mood is different. Our program is different. We stay in this world but we are not worldly. Worldly persons meet with sadness and destruction all around us but we are not involved. Why should we make relation with worldly people? They have nothing to offer us apart from their problems. We must not follow them. Follow the Guru-varga. Then even if the suffering jivas just think about us, they will be benefited. By meeting us they will become free. They will forget their suffering and their prarabdha and aprarabdha-karma will be destroyed. Contaminated persons can only give contaminated things. They cannot give hari-katha. Beware of cheaters. Some people wear the dress of a sadhu and give advice and lectures to others. But this is only the play of Maya-devi. He who poses as someone who can offer spiritual advice but is not above maya, himself is a cheater. If you cross above maya and disconnect yourself from all mundane contamination and relation then you can help others. Beware of asat-sanga. “I won’t look anywhere or hear anything that is not in connection to God and the Guru-varga.” This is called sadacara, proper behavior. Have the conviction that wherever you may be, you will glorify your Guru-varga and Vaisnavas. Then ceto-darpana-marjanam will take place and you will be happy. Apart from this there is no means to become happy even if you try for millions of lives. Be anywhere, but be related with Gurudeva and Vaisnavas. Be with them and follow their program.
