Gaudiya Bhakti DarsanaG
Welcome to the first issue of our magazine ‘Gaudiya Bhakti Darsana’. In this periodical, we will be presenting the current of conceptions and special gift of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu— unnatojjvala-rasam-sva-bhakti-sriyam—which is syno nym ous with Gaudiya Bhakti, through the darsana, or teachings of our Guru-varga.
The Mathara-sruti states: Bhaktir evainam darsayati—without bhakti, we cannot have darsana of Bhagavan, Guru, or any tattva. Srila Rupa Gosvami revealed the topmost level of bhakti in his Bhaktirasamrta-sindhu (1.1.11):
anukulyena krsnanu-silanam bhaktir uttama
Uttama-bhakti, topmost devotion, is the cultivation of activities that are meant exclusively for the benefit of Sri Krsna. It is the uninterrupted flow of service to Sri Krsna, performed through all endeavors of body, mind, and speech, as well as through expression of various spiritual sentiments. It is not covered by speculative knowledge aimed at impersonal liberation, reward-seeking activity, yoga or austerities; and it is completely free from all desires other than the aspiration to bring happiness to Sri Krsna.
With this first issue, we begin by revealing the glories of Sri Krsna Caitanya Himself, the original Gaudiya, or follower of Gauri, Srimati Radhika. Having the darsana of Mahaprabhu and His teachings is possible by developing bhakti through the mercy of our beloved Srila Gurudeva and the Guru-varga, who are all ‘Gaudiyas’ or one-pointed followers of Srimati Radhika.
It is our prayer that the worldwide Vaisnava community will be pleased with our endeavor and bless us to become true followers of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.
