Try to Make Offenses Go Far Away

A devotee whose heart melts and who weeps while chanting is very fortunate and rare. If this doesn’t happen, then what is to be understood? Aparādha pracura—he has committed many offenses. Thus, the name he chants is hindered by offenses. Sometimes a semblance of the holy name may appear. Therefore, try to make offenses go far away. If tears don’t come and the heart doesn’t melt while chanting the name and hearing hari-kathā, then we should know that there are some big offenses like nāma-aparādha, vaiṣṇava-aparādha, and guru-aparādha. So, we should try to chant day and night—without stopping. Like Haridāsa Ṭhākura and more than that—Śrīla Raghunātha dāsa Gosvāmī and Rūpa Gosvāmī. We should try to follow them. We should follow the śloka that Caitanya Mahāprabhu told to all the devotees:

tṛṇād api sunīcena taror api sahiṣṇunā
amāninā mānadena kīrtanīyaḥ sadā hariḥ

Caitanya-caritāmṛta Adi 17.31
