Śrīla Gurudeva to a Devotee: I have much affection for you. I want to help you. Your children should grow up to be pure devotees. In this world there are always problems. Externally, it should seem that you are attached. But in actuality, your heart must only have a place for Kṛṣṇa. You are the dear friend of Kṛṣṇa and you are also my dear friend. Maintain your lives and be peaceful. Always remain with your husbands. In our Vedic culture, this has been told. A dharma-patni means a religious wife. A wife shouldn’t be looked at as on object of fulfilling one’s lust. Draupadī was never looked at as an object of enjoyment, neither was she lusty. She would always encourage her husbands to serve Kṛṣṇa. So, you should accept a husband who will help you engage in the divine service of Kṛṣṇa. If the husband is not Kṛṣṇa conscious, then what is the use of having a husband?
