The love the gopīs have for Kṛṣṇa—this is sanātana-dharma. But we don’t understand this properly. Kṛṣṇa is sanātana-puruṣa, the eternal predominating deity. He doesn’t take birth, nor does He die. Kṛṣṇa is Pūrṇa-brahma: the Vedas, Upaniṣads, Rāmāyaṇa, and all the purāṇas state this. Kṛṣṇa has become Rāma and Nṛsiṁha. Kṛṣṇastu bhagavān svayam: Kṛṣṇa is Svayaṁ Bhagavān. Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa is Parabrahma. All the souls are also eternal and not subject to transformation. Understand that you are spirit soul and not this body made of flesh, blood, and bones.
