He Accomplished a Miracle

[In reference to Śrīla Bhaktivedānta Svāmī Mahārāja]

By the grace of Srila Rupa Gosvami, his Gurudeva Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, and also Sri Sri Radha-Damodara, he went to the Western countries. In no time—in a couple of years—he established preaching centers and beautiful temples over the whole world. By his mercy, Lord Jagannathadeva appeared and Ratha-yatra was established in most major cities. Most importantly, he wrote and translated so many books—more than one hundred—and they were translated in most languages of the world.

He accomplished a miracle in his last ten years. In the midst of oceans, in forests and cities, on the tops of mountains and almost everywhere else, his glory is manifest. But I think his real glory is that he has established the same mission that Srila Rupa Gosvami established, which came from the very heart of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Everything he said came from Srila Rupa Gosvami, and his mission would have not existed had he left out Srila Rupa Gosvami.

The Glories of Srila Bhaktivinoda

Jive doya means to have mercy upon the living entities. Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura has ordered us: Tell them that they are spirit souls; they are not this physical body. They are part and parcel of the Supreme Lord, but they have forgotten this. Now they should engage in the process of bhakti-yoga and be happy. To turn anyone's interest or tendency toward Krsna, is more valuable than establishing thousands of schools, hospitals, public gardens and performing charitable works. We should try to help others...

Gaurangera-duti-pada – 02 July 1996

I was explaining ‘Gaurangera duti-pada, jāra dhana sampada.’ Śrīla Bhaktivedānta Svamiji has explained this song of Śrīla Narottama dāsa Ṭhākura. I have explained in the morning—je gaurāṅgera nāma loya, tā’ra hoya premodoya, tāre mui jāi bolihārī. If anyone takes shelter at the lotus feet of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu then he can know bhakti, bhakti-rasa and what is bhakti-rasa-sāra, I have explained this in the morning...

Everything can be supplied for the body, but the soul will not experience any happiness. Whatever little service you do for Śrī Hari will automatically reflect on your heart. Śrīla Ṭhākura Mahāśaya says that your desire and eagerness for service will become very strong when the power of svarūpa-śakti appears in your heart. Śrī Hari’s strength is paramānanda-pūrṇam (composed entirely of ecstatic bliss). Such strength is not ordinary.

By His Prayers

After the disappearance of Venkata Bhatta, Prabhodananda Sarasvati left his home and came to Vrndavana. He lived in Kamyavana and in all the twelve forests of Vrndavana, in a separation mood used to call out, "O, where is Srimati Radhika? Lalita, Visakha, where are you?" He was always weeping and rolling down on the earth...
