Srimati Radhika gives Her everything to Krsna. She gives Her heart to Him and She feels so much joy that it cannot be explained. How? I am giving an example from Ramayana. Rama went to Janakapuri first with Visvamitra. Perhaps you know. Janaka, the father of Sita had made up his mind and declared that “I will give my dear darling daughter to only that person who will take this bow and take aim.”
Ravana came in the night. When he tried lifting the bow, he slipped and fell down on the earth. The bow fell on him and he cried out, “Save me! Save me!” Indra and everyone else came; but they could not lift the bow. Janaka became so worried.
He thought, “Why have I committed this mistake by making an oath like this?”
At the same time, Visvamitra came with Rama and Laksmana there. When everyone saw Ramacandra, they saw how beautiful He was. He was Syama (dark complexioned). They were so happy. They thought, “God should make an arrangement by which the daughter of Janaka—Sita will marry Rama.” During the morning of the next day, Sita was picking flowers from the garden and Ramacandra was also ordered by Visvamitra to collect flowers. Ramacandra was there with Laksmana. Sita-devi was singing with all the sakhis. At once, Sita’s and Ramacandra’s eyes met and the two eyes plus two eyes became four. And they felt that they were in love with each other.
Rama told Laksmana, “I should jump into the ocean and give up My life otherwise I will have to take some poison because in our dynasty no person has thought like this. Everyone should think of all the grown up ladies as their mothers, sisters, or daughters. Why did I move to see Sita?”
Laksmana replied, “Yes. I know that this marriage will surely be done because You are satya-sankalpa (He whose desires must come to pass). Your marriage will be done later on; wait and see.”
On the next day, Janaka told Rama and Laksmana, “This is the bow. I have taken an oath that I will marry my daughter to that person who can lift this bow and string it. But on seeing everyone unsuccessful I have become worried. Why did I make this oath? Now I am thinking that there is no strong person (vira-purusa) in the whole world who can lift and string this bow.”
Laksmana told Maharaja Janaka, “You should not speak like this. We belong to the Raghu-dynasty. You should not say in front of us that ‘Mother Earth has become devoid of strong men.’ If Rama will order Me, then I will carry the whole brahmanda (universe) on My head and I will travel for lakhs and lakhs of miles with it. What to speak of this very little bow?”
Then Visvamitra ordered Rama, “You should take this bow and string it.”
Ramacandra went very gently and smoothly towards the bow. He took the bow in His hands so quickly that none noticed how He lifted the bow and strung it. And, the bow broke into three pieces. Everyone was clapping and Sita was ready to give the Jayamala. Do you know what the Jayamala is? It is the victory garland. She was overjoyed. So many sakhis were helping her to come to Rama. She held a very beautiful garland in her hands. This ceremony is called the svayamvara in India. In this ceremony, a lady can choose her husband by herself. So, Sita was so overjoyed that she could not put the garland around the neck of Rama. So, some of her sakhis helped her and she gave that garland. And she was so glad that her hair stood on end and tears flowed from her eyes.
So, Bilvamangala Thakura has said in the first sloka of his book that Srimati Radhika worships Krsna whole-heartedly up until His little toe and She becomes so joyful. But, instead of saying this, Prabhodananda Sarasvati says:
yat-kinkarisu bahusah khalu kaku-vani
nityam parasya purusasya sikhanda-mauleh
tasyah kada rasa-nidheh vrsabhanu-jayas
–Sri Radha-rasa-sudha-nidhi (8)
[O daughter of Vrsabhanu Maharaja, ocean of rasa, that beautiful boy who wears a gracefully tilting peacock feather in His hair is actually the original Personality of Godhead. Still, He is always falling at the feet of Your maidservants and pitifully begging them with many humble words to gain entrance into Your kunja where the two of You engage in Your playful loving pastimes. My life would be successful if I could even be one stick in the broom Your maidservants use to clean Your delightful kunja.]
He says, “O Radhike! O Radhike! I am hankering for Your service. I want to be one of the broomsticks that are used in cleaning Your groves. I want to be that. I don’t want to be a person or a lady. I don’t want to be a full broom. I only want to be a stick of that broom. And the gopis will clean those groves where Krsna and You live.”
He says, “Yat-kinkarisu bahusah khalu kaku-vani.”
We will see Srimati Radhika later on. You must first decide who the kinkaris of the gopis are. Do you know who kinkaris are? They are the maidservants who serve Srimati Radhika like Rupa-manjari. Radhika has ordered that “Any black person, black article, black animal, black birds, or anything black should not enter the grove. I don’t believe in blacks. They are dhurtas (cheaters). So they should not enter. If any black being comes—if even a bee comes, you should stop it. Any person who is black by his heart and body should be checked. They may come in the form of a lady, but even they should be checked.”
Meanwhile, a black person came with His flute. Peacock feathers adorned His head. He was smiling; He was having some shame. He came there and did like so to the kinkaris of Srimati Radhika. He pleaded to them and said, “I want to meet Srimati Radhika. Allow Me to enter.”
The kinkaris (maidservants) replied, “No. You must get out of here. We cannot let You go inside.”
Then Krsna caught hold of their feet and said, “Please allow Me! Please allow Me!”
But yet, the kinkaris didn’t allow Him. They want Krsna to go and meet Srimati Radhika. But they restrict Krsna outwardly. They tell Him, “You cannot meet Srimati Radhika.” Who is He? Who is that black person? He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead and He is the Lord (Isvara) of lords (isvaras). He is the Isvara of Rama, Dvarakadisa, Mathuresa, and all others. Everything has come from Him. None are like Him; no one is greater than Him. And that person is controlled by Srimati Radhika. Thus, He begs to be allowed inside.
And the gopis say, “Oh You should get out of here! You should get out of here!”
This is the glory of Srimati Radhika. So, Prabhodananda Sarasvati says that “If you want to have taste in sankirtana-rasa—yadi hari smarane manah i.e. if you want to have taste in nectarean harinama and sankirtana of Caitanya Mahaprabhu, then take part in the sankirtana-rasa at Navadvipa in the courtyard of Srivasa Pandita. If you want to make your heart full of Krsna-rasa i.e. if you want to be immersed in Krsna-rasa, then you will have to go and be under the shelter of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. You should cry out, ‘Where is Sacinandana? Where is Sacinandana?’ You should weep with tears. You should go and be under the shelter of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Who is He? He is not only Krsna.”
Only the mercy of Krsna will not do because the conditioned souls are sinful. They are so fallen; they are nonsense. They have done so many offenses; they are full of anarthas. So Krsna will not hear their prayers (prarthanas). Krsna-nama (the name of Krsna) will not be merciful. But in the names of Caitanya Mahaprabhu and Nityananda Prabhu and in the dhama of Caitanya Mahaprabhu, no qualification is needed there. Even a very fallen soul will chant Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s names. He will chant Gaura-Nityananda’s names.
