In Goloka Vṛndāvana it is Always Spring

In Goloka Vṛndāvana it is always spring. It is so sweet there. Cuckoos always sing and peacocks always dance there. Seeing the black clouds in the sky, the peacocks remember Kṛṣṇa and begin to dance. All the gopīs want to go to their fathers’ homes because they are free there. They then swing on their swings. Why do the gopīs then swing Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa? This is bhakti. In Vraja, everyone is an adolescent. There are no problems at all. Only they who experience no sadness can swing in Vṛndāvana. How can those who are sad be swung?

DON'T FOLLOW THE DVARKA-VASIS' MOODS!

How can we obtain this sevā-vṛtti, service tendency? We will not serve anyone else. We came to this world to learn this service mood and to follow this. We will be the servant of the servant of the servants of the Vraja-devīs. Otherwise all activities will be karma and only give suffering in the form of pāpa and puṇya. Kṛṣṇa even left all His queens when He disappeared. For their protection, Arjuna came and said, “I’m taking everyone to Hastināpura and I will serve and protect you all.” But along the way, some cowherd boys came and beat Arjuna with sticks, took his Gāṇḍīva bow and stole all of Kṛṣṇa’s queens. Arjuna was hopeless, devoid of all strength, and crying like a child. Where did this power come from and where did it go? If one has relation with Kṛṣṇa, then all power will be present, but when He is gone then everything is lost. As long as Śrīla Gurudeva is present then we are all behaving like princes from the wealth of guru, but after he removes his external presence what do we do? Therefore, do not lose your relation with Śrīla Gurudeva! Do not go distance from him! If you do, you will understand what real suffering is. Śrīla Gurudeva is always protecting his own followers, but we must not cut ourselves off from him. Don’t follow the Dvārakāvāsīs or the moods of Dvārakā.

Real Kirtan – 01 June 1997 New Braja

“I want a very beautiful new wife, Hare Krsna Hare,” don’t do it, otherwise Krsna will give this and He will fly away, at once He will fly away. He can give all these things very quickly, very quickly, but He will have to think for longer whether My Krsna prema should be given to that person or not, but He will give these things very quickly. You can see that so many persons, even living in temples, being pujaris and these things, they are worshipping Krsna, chanting, remembering, but they are thinking about how to fulfill their desires, and at once Krsna gives all these things and they become householders, even sannyasis, so don’t want these things. What we have, be satisfied with that...

Secrets Of Gundica Mandira Marjana

What is the hidden deeper meaning of Gundica-marjana, the cleaning of the Gundica Temple? Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu told some of the associates of the king, the king's guru Kasi Misra, the head pujari, and Sarvabhauma Bhattacarya, "I want to do Gundica-marjanam." In previous years, the King would tell some of his servants, "Go and clean the temple." But what could they do?... Sriman Mahaprabhu was acting as an acarya; He was doing the cleaning Himself and then teaching others. Some so-called guru may say, "I don't do it, but I tell my disciples, "You should chant at least 64 rounds." His disciples cannot ask him, "How many rounds do you do?" They fear, but any very bold disciple may ask, "How many rounds are you doing? And in what mood are you doing them?" That bogus guru, that kan-guru, will not be able to reply, but a real guru can say, "Oh, I try to do 64, sometimes more then that." In what mood will that real guru be chanting? Gopijana-vallabhaya svaha in that mood. How can a bogus guru advise you to engage in these elevated activities of bhakti? They don't have a trace of these moods or the meaning of Gopal-mantra, kama-gayatri, or even Brahma-gayatri. At least he will never fall down because he has been fallen since the beginning.

BHAJAN IS FOOD FOR THE SOUL

When will we desire Govinda’s service? How can we be free from all forms of disturbances? How can we perform śravaṇa and kīrtana? A sādhu renounces everything and comes to the temple. But he has no time for harināma or bhajana. How busy he is! He has no time to chant sixty-four rounds or to do kīrtana. What is his purpose? What will happen if he doesn’t receive soul food? Who will protect him? There is māyā in family life, but there can be more māyā near the sādhu. Bhajana is food for the soul. We need only be greedy and busy for this. We don’t need anything else. Our business is only hari-kīrtana and hari-smaraṇa. Śrīla Narottama dāsa Ṭhākura has spoken how navadha-bhakti is indispensable for the soul. Śravaṇa and kīrtana is especially helpful. When we listen to hari-kathā from a kaniṣṭha-adhikārī, madhyama-adhikārī, or an uttama-adhikārī, we will receive the moods and tendencies that are in their hearts. By listening to an uttama-bhāgavata, the flow of hari-kathā from his heart will immeasurably help us. But, we must determine how much we are ready to accept his instructions. How much can our containers hold? A golden pot is needed to contain a tigresses’ milk, or else the milk will make a hole in the pot and trickle out. But the milk will not make a hole in a container made of gold.

The Pure Name Is Kṛṣṇa

The holy name of Kṛṣṇa is transcendentally blissful. It bestows all spiritual benedictions, for it is Kṛṣṇa Himself, the reservoir of all pleasure. Kṛṣṇa’s name is complete, and it is the form of all transcendental mellows. It is not a material name under any condition, and it is no less powerful than Kṛṣṇa Himself. Since Kṛṣṇa’s name is not contaminated by the material qualities, there is no question of its being involved with māyā. Kṛṣṇa's name is always liberated and spiritual. Because the name of Kṛṣṇa and Kṛṣṇa Himself are identical, His name is never conditioned by the laws of material nature...
